Principal, Ivin Gunder

Parents and Guardians,

Welcome to Orange Park High School, home of the Raiders! Orange Park High was established in 1961, and we plan to keep the tradition going of excellence as we move forward into the future.

I am Mr. Ivin J. Gunder, and I have the privilege of serving as the next principal of OPHS! I hold a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Geography from Jacksonville University and a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership from the American College of Education. In my twelve years as a classroom teacher, I focused closely on reading and literacy skills. I established a positive learning culture by laying the foundation that every student can succeed, a mindset that I feel very strongly about and plan to continue at Orange Park.

I had the opportunity to begin my career as an administrator at Lakeside Junior High, where I served as both the assistant principal and vice principal from 2014-2017. I moved on to Oakleaf High School in 2017, where I served until 2019 as vice principal, building the master schedule and providing in-service opportunities that encouraged teachers to grow and excel in the classroom.

I was honored to return to Lakeside Junior High as principal during the 2019-20 school year. Afterward, I transitioned to Hillsborough County, where I served as Principal at Riverview High School during the global pandemic. I am grateful to be back in Clay County and continue to engage in daily classroom visits to provide meaningful feedback and support for the faculty and students.

It is my honor to give back what was so freely given to me by my teachers, coaches, and administrators, by establishing meaningful relationships. I was fortunate to have caring and patient teachers that helped catapult me on a more productive path than the one I was on. Growing up in the inner city of Jacksonville, Florida, there were many odds stacked against me. If I was able to overcome those odds, so are others. #AllHandsOnDeck

Sincerely,

Ivin J. Gunder
