Parents and Guardians,

Welcome to Orange Park High School, home of the Raiders! Orange Park High was established in 1961, and we want to keep the tradition of excellence as we move forward into the future.

I am Mr. Ivin J. Gunder, and I have the privilege of serving as the principal of OPHS! I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Geography from Jacksonville University, where I was blessed to serve as a Men’s Basketball Team member under legendary and Hall of Famer, Coach Hugh Durham. Also, I hold a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership from the American College of Education. I focused on reading and literacy skills in my twelve years as a classroom teacher. I established a positive learning culture by laying the foundation that every student can succeed, a mindset that I feel very strongly about and plan to continue at Orange Park.

I had the opportunity to begin my administration career at Lakeside Junior High, where I served as both the assistant principal and vice principal from 2014-2017. I moved on to Oakleaf High School in 2017, serving until 2019 as vice principal, building the master schedule and providing in-service opportunities that encouraged teachers to grow and excel in the classroom.

I was honored to return to Lakeside Junior High as principal during the 2019-20 school year. Afterward, I transitioned to Hillsborough County, where I served as Principal at Riverview High School during the global pandemic. I am grateful to be at OPHS and continue to engage in daily classroom visits to provide meaningful feedback and support for the faculty and students.

It is my honor to give back what was so freely given to me by my teachers, coaches, and administrators by establishing intentional connections. I was fortunate to have caring people in my life that helped catapult me on a more productive path than the one I was on. Growing up in the inner city of Jacksonville, Florida, there were many odds stacked against me. If I was able to overcome those odds, so are others.

Sincerely,

Mr. Gunder

Assistant Principal, Caitlyn Hayes

Hello Parents & Students,

I am honored to introduce myself as a new member of the Raider Family. I am a proud graduate of Orange Park High. I began my career as a teacher for the last five years at our feeder school Orange Park Junior High.   During that time I was a Social Studies teacher and Civics Department Head. I had the privilege of fostering positive student relationships through my time coaching Volleyball and Track for many years. Upon completing my Masters in Educational Leadership, as well as a Masters in Learning and Technology; I served as the Dean of Students and then Assistant Principal. I have had the opportunity to integrate myself into the community as lead for the School Advisory Committee and our work with Family Engagement events through Title I.   I am excited to continue building these relationships with our students and community here at Orange Park High School.

All means All! The success of every student is the priority and the families and community members are an integral part of influencing that success.  I will work to ensure that all students are receiving instruction that meets their individual needs in a safe and supportive environment for our students.  The commitment to holding high expectations for teaching and learning while building positive relationships is at the heart of how we can succeed.

I have enjoyed meeting so many of the incredible families in our community and feel extremely fortunate for this opportunity to work with our students and the talented and dedicated staff here at OPHS.  This will be a great year of learning and building positive relationships with our students and families!

Sincerely,

Caitlyn Hayes
